Davis Occupational Therapy Inc.

Virtual / In Person

Davis Occupational Therapy was established in 2019, focusing on supporting individuals in return to work following injury or illness. Over the years our practice has evolved to meet the growing needs of neurodiverse adults. We currently have a team of 4 OTs and one Social Worker providing adult services.

Occupational Therapy
At Davis OT, we help adults struggling in their everyday life because of ADHD symptoms, a new Autism diagnosis, concussion or learning differences.

We use a neurodiversity-affirming approach to identify your strengths and a holistic approach to look at all parts of your life including home, work, school and community activities. Together we create a plan that is just for you by selecting appropriate tools and methods to help you live your best life. We may change how you do things or how you have things set up in your home, office or classroom to make life easier. We also advocate for modifications or accommodations to better support you at school or work.

Concussion Management

Concussions are one of the most common brain injuries and symptoms usually resolve in 30 days; however, 30% of people present with Persisting Concussion Symptoms (PCS) resulting in difficulties managing work, volunteering, parenting or studying.

OTs can help you manage the symptoms including headaches, migraines, visual changes, poor sleep and brain fog. We begin with the basics (diet, sleep, exercise) and gradually re-establish tolerance for screen time, reading, concentration and busy environments. Together we determine a gradual return to work/school plan, advocate on your behalf to employers, identify accommodations and modifications and support you through the entire journey. We are also well connected in the concussion community and ensure that you have all the right healthcare practitioners on your recovery team.

Workplace Ergonomics
Post-pandemic many are working in a hybrid model; spending some days working from home and other days in the office. Office spaces have also changed considerably with many having a more open and stimulating design.

Ergonomics focuses on designing and arranging objects so that people interact more efficiently and safely with the objects. Having a workspace that fits your body can make a world of difference in terms of productivity, efficiency and physical comfort. As OTs we visit you in your workspace, assess your setup, make immediate changes, take measurements and provide you with recommendations for additional products. All it takes is 1 hour with Alanna Davis, OT Reg. (Ont.) to get you feeling better at your desk!

Nature-Based Therapy

We continue to work on promoting and providing opportunities for our adult clients to connect with nature. Many of our clinicians use the Park Prescription program to “prescribe” nature and create nature goals with our clients. We also offer a “Mindfulness in Nature Group” for Adults with ADHD. This group offers a hybrid approach of in-class psychoeducation and outdoor mindfulness work. Head to the Website to find out more.
