Social Work

As a Registered Social Worker (RSW), I take into consideration how individuals, families, communities, and systems are operating within a socio-ecological context. So what does this mean for clients? Let’s take for example a child who is struggling in school. As a RSW, I can support your child through individual therapy, support you and your family as you address the issue, and also help you navigate the larger structure of the school system. As an RSW, I can help you navigate the many systems that we function in, as well as provide case management support and connection to community services.

Psychotherapy – Adults

Everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and heard. Therapy can be that place. I have close to 20 years of experience working with children and their families. I have a B.S. in Human Development, Children Families and Culture from Wheelock College (Boston, MA, US) and an M.S. in Mental Health Counselling from the University of Massachusetts Boston (US). I have extensive clinical experience in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and individual/group counselling. I have extensive training and education on the following issues; pregnancy, prenatal, postpartum, developmental disorders, coping skills, education and learning disability, family conflict, infertility, mood disorders, parenting, peer relationships, relationship issues, school issues, thinking disorders, trauma and PTSD.

Psychotherapy – Children

At the root of my work with children and youth is play! Children learn best through play, and my philosophy is that therapy is no exception. I offer individual therapy for children and youth, (early years – 12 years old) both in person and virtually, as they progress through important developmental processes, including emotion regulation and recognition, attachment, identity, self-esteem development, and neurodiversity. I have close to 20 years experience working with children and youth in many settings, including: clinical mental health settings and the visual arts. Modalities that I incorporate into our sessions can include; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Parent Child Interaction (PCIT), Parents Interacting with Infants (PIWI), and Attachment focused therapy

Family Therapy

Families are made in lots of different ways, and family systems all look different! Embracing this inclusive perspective of families, I work with adult supports and primary caregivers for children (early years -12 years). In family systems, issues don’t arise in a vacuum. I can help you identify what you would like to be different in your family system, and we can work together to create a plan for positive change and growth. For family therapy, I approach this work through Structural Family Therapy (SFT), Narrative Therapy, Attachment focused, Parent Child Interaction, Parents Interacting With Infants (PIWI), Person-Centred, and Trauma Informed. Family sessions are considered to be 3 or more people, and are longer than a typical session to accommodate.

Fertility, Perinatal, and Postpartum

I work with individuals who are transitioning into the journey of parenthood, including the phases of fertility, perinatal, and postpartum. In Canada, 1 in 5 perinatal individuals will develop a Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder, often experiencing symptoms during pregnancy and expecting to become a parent. Expecting parents deserve to prioritize their mental health! Families are created in many different ways, and I actively work through an anti-oppressive lens that expands my services outside of hetero and cis-normative family and parenting roles. I offer flexibility to accommodate busy and sometimes complex schedules, offering nights, weekends, and virtual and in-person individual counselling sessions. I approach this speciality through trauma informed and strengths based lens, employing techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based, Person-Centred, Positive Psychology, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

Everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and heard. Therapy can be the place for that. If you would like to schedule an intake or initial appointment, please visit my Online Booking Site
